Halsey-Shedd Rural Fire Protection District
In 2021, ZCS assisted the Hasley-Shedd Rural Fire Protection District in successfully applying for grant funding for the seismic rehabilitation of Station 53 in Peoria, Oregon. Once the funds were in hand, ZCS was tasked with leading the design. The project transformed the station from a deteriorating metal structure into a fully functional facility, complete with new exterior walls, a reinforced structural slab, and a brand-new roof package.
During the project, subsoil challenges arose. We discovered that the water table lay just a foot below the finished floor level. To address this, three feet of excess subgrade was excavated and backfilled with drainable rock. To further assist with drainage concerns, a new drainage network was installed, directing water to a sump pump to remove any excess liquid buildup going forward.
