City of Reedsport
Reedsport Station 7 is a combined space shared by both the Fire and Police Departments. The building was comprised of 3 separate additions. While we did not retrofit the jail portion of the building, our work reinforced the dispatch center, offices, and lounge area of the Police Station, as well as the Fire Station’s apparatus bay. During design development, the team discovered that the building stands in a tsunami zone. This presented a unique design challenge as the retrofit work needed to ensure the building’s survival in the face of such an event. In order to address this emergent need and reconcile the budget, the project was delayed. Despite these developments, the seismic retrofit work was successfully completed in October 2024.
