Gleneden Beach Fire Station 22

This fire station previously experienced minimal use and had limited on-site personnel. After completion of the seismic retrofit the staffing levels have increased, revitalizing the station, and restoring its role as a crucial component of the fire service in this coastal region.

During the design and construction of this project, we faced several challenges. One significant issue was the quality of the evaluation report and cost estimate generated by another firm. The report exhibited major scope gaps and glazed over deficiencies that required addressing. Early in the process, it became apparent that the prior evaluation was conducted without access to the original building’s drawings. The discovery of these drawings aided us in completing the design effectively. Additionally, managing unforeseen site conditions presented ongoing challenges throughout the construction phase. Despite these obstacles, effective communication, proactive problem-solving, and collaboration among the project team helped mitigate risks and ensure successful project completion.
