Yachats Rural Fire Protection District
This project included a complex site development to relocate the Yachats Fire Station outside of the Tsunami Hazard Zone, constructing a 13,000 square foot multi-story Fire Station building, and realigning a Mitchell Creek tributary. The site is located on a heavily forested parcel of land. Stormwater quality and quantity were a major component of the project as the site is adjacent to ODOT Hwy 101 and coastal aquatic habitat. Stormwater compliance was obtained through a combination of at grade stormwater swales and a large detention pond at the lower end of the site. The site design maintained as much of the existing forested area as possible while constructing the realigned creek, fire house, and associated site elements. Those elements included asphalt and concrete pavement parking & maneuvering areas, concrete pedestrian sidewalks, retaining walls, and associated landscape areas. Other site utilities included an onsite septic system, domestic and fire water, power, and data/communications.
